The Letter

You're at the kindergarten prep stage.

You're starting to look at lunch boxes and backpacks. There's a swim lesson bag by the door, a library tote in the car, three crayons under the dining table from Sunday's drawing time. You are already noticing more than you give yourself credit for.

But there's still that quiet question.

Are they ready?

You don't want to push your child. You also don't want to miss the small windows that matter. You've tried the apps that turned into screen battles. The workbooks that felt like homework before kindergarten even began. The well-meaning advice that ended at "just keep reading to your child."

The research is clear, and softer than you'd expect. When parents learn to notice and nurture a few small reading skills — not just read aloud — they become up to six times more effective in developing their child's reading. Six. Times. The bedtime book is real. It is one beautiful piece of a bigger picture.

Kindergarten Confident is the rest of the picture. Two sessions with Goldie. One cozy moment with the Compass that shows you exactly where your child already is. And a beautiful, clear map of the small, gentle moves that come next.

The Compass

The Compass.

A gentle ten-minute reading snapshot you do together — built around what your child can already do, never a checklist of what they can't.

The Compass is your child's reading portrait. Designed to feel like a game, not a test. You'll sit together with a tablet or your phone for about ten minutes — singing a rhyme, naming a few letters, making up a small story. By the morning after, their full strengths report will be waiting in your inbox.

The report is organized into the four leaves of the Canopy:

Hear

the sounds inside words

See

letters, words, and how print works

Use

words, sentences, and the small acts of writing

Live

the indoor-outdoor moments that nurture reading inside daily life

Underneath the gentleness sits forty years of literacy research — Ehri's reading phases, Piasta & Wagner on letter-sound learning, Blevins on phonics-readiness, Gaab on early predictors. Every question maps to a research-validated milestone. Your child's report is rigorous beneath, beautiful above.

A Few Questions, Answered

What is the Kindergarten Confident Master Class?

A two-session live experience for parents of four- to six-year-olds. By the end of Session Two, you'll have:

  • A clear destination — Kindergarten Confident, in three clear steps
  • A clear Compass — a snapshot of where your child already is
  • A clear path forward — the next gentle moves to nurture

Tuesday May 26 and Thursday May 28, 11:00 AM PT, 60 minutes each.

How do I know if my preschooler is on track for kindergarten reading?

The Compass is the answer. It's a gentle ten-minute reading snapshot you do together with your child on a tablet or your phone — built around what they can already do. Inside the Master Class, you'll learn how to interpret their result, see where your child is in their reading development, and identify the next small skills coming up.

Is the Compass an assessment or a test?

Neither, in the way those words usually feel. The Compass is a strengths-first reading snapshot — gentle, playful, designed to feel like a game with your child. Every question is built from forty years of early literacy research, but the experience is warm, not clinical. Your child's result names what they can already do, never a checklist of what they can't.

Does this follow the science of reading?

Yes. Every part of the methodology is heavily research-based — built on forty years of literacy research from Ehri, Piasta & Wagner, Blevins, and Gaab. But this is the home version: no flashcards, no drilling, no homework feel. Joyful, playful, and built to go with you into the life you're already living.

My child is four (or six). Is the master class still for us?

Yes. The Compass adapts to your child's age — four through six. The Master Class teaching is built around the entire reading-development arc, from sound play and book love through fluent reading. Wherever your child is, you'll see them clearly and know the next small moves.

What if I can't make it live?

All buyers receive thirty days of replay access plus a digital companion guide. Live Day Two attendees also receive a small surprise gift from Goldie — but if you can't make it, you'll have everything you need to walk through the methodology on your own time.

How is this different from a tutoring program or a workbook?

It is not a tutoring program, a workbook, a phonics drill, or a curriculum. It is a master class for the parent — built on the research finding that when parents learn to notice and nurture a few small reading skills, they become up to six times more effective in developing their child's reading. The Compass shows you where your child is. The Master Class teaches you the few right moves. Your home stays your home.

Will my husband, partner, or caregiver benefit from this too?

Absolutely. The 30 days of replay makes this easy — many parents and caregivers watch together when the moment finds them. The methodology is one anyone caring for your child can speak together, which is one of the small joys of the work.

What happens after the Master Class?

You'll have your Compass result, your Personalized Bookshelf, and your Reader's Card in hand — enough to begin nurturing your child's reading at home that week. Master Class graduates are also the only path into The Raising Readers Rhythm, Goldie's flagship community opening this fall. We'll talk about it on the second session.
